The reviews weren’t exaggerating. I do not completely understand how this pad does what it does, but the deep moist heat penetration is exactly what I experienced from heated pads at the therapist. Almost every time I used this pad it relaxed a nasty trouble spot inside 20 minutes. My WORST back cramp obliged two 30 minute sessions. Phenomenal.

The controls are wonderfully logical and idiot evidence, the workmanship and design first rate. AND IT WORKS.

No more purchasing semi effective pads from department stores, pads that never really get the job done and fail in a year or so.

This is the final pad, and I have tried quite some.

When it says “Moist Heat”, it really means it. She can set it for a 30 minute session, and it really delivers moist heat, just like the moist heat packs in a Physical medical care or Chiropractor’s clinic. The moist heat really sooths her back ache, and now we have two! I had to get my own.

If you are looking for fast acting, therapeutic HIGH heat, purchase a Thermophore instead. I have both heating pads and favor the Thermophore by far. The disadvantage to the the Thermophore is that it has only one setting: on or off. You have to hold onto a small switch to keep the heating pad turned on. The benefit of this system is that you directly control the heat. When you press the button, the Thermophore quickly turns hot. When it feels too hot, you let go of the button and it begins to cool down. In some minutes, you press the button and get a second burst of high heat. This is called infusion heat medical care and is said to be the most therapeutic kind of heat. In my experience, this is certainly true. I bought the Theratherm because I thought it could be simpler. It advertises the same maximum heat as the Thermaphore with the convenience of digital control (simply set it to the temperature you want, , then set the timer for up to 60 minutes.) The problem is that the thermostat is not correct. It reaches peak heat quickly and automatically turns itself off, never feeling hot for more than a minute. (Instead, it emits a low level heat for up to one hour). Think about your objectives and make your choice therefore. For me, I decide the Thermaphore (which is sold on Amazon.Com).

(TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) This review is from: Reliamed # ZHP1427 14″ X 27″ Electrical Digital Moist Heating Pad (Health and Beauty) An strange neurological condition resulted in ache that radiated from my shoulder area down to my fingertips. The occupational therapist suggested heat to help alleviate the discomfort. But, though I am short, I am not so short that a regular heating pad could cover the complete area. I did my searching on and found some longer heating pads, but the cheaper variants appeared to be just that cheaply made and having unsatisfactory performance. Reliamed had the best reviews, seemed geared toward professionals which indicated it could be longer lasting, and was reasonably priced.

The Reliamed Heating Pad is a heavy duty part of equipment. The pad is well made and the covering is constructed of tightly woven flannel. The pad is big and for me extends from my shoulder to almost my fingertips. Taller persons won’t get that total of area coverage, but will still find this one of the bigger pad regions available. The cord isn’t the common flimsy electric cord found on most commercially available heating pads, but is the thick, round type found on professional products; the plug is three pronged. The digital control is easy to use and easy to reset. It beeps once, softly, when it’s turned on and five times as it shuts off; the calm beeping is vital if you use this at night and sleep with someone who wakens easily.

There are two minor things I feel may be improved; but, they aren’t serious enough to produce me to give this item a lower ranking. There’s a part of velcro attached to one side of the cover which is in the center of the cover. If you don’t wrap the pad around the body part being warmed, it gets in the way when you be lying on the pad. The longer velcro part extends beyond the top of the pad and also gets in the way. I haven’t cut it off because there’s generally a chance someone may have to wrap this around their lower back. But, the size of the pad and the total of velcro attached could bound the individual’s size to less than a 37 inch waist circumference. The second issue is that the pad heats about ten degrees beyond the set temperature when 1st turned on. My therapist suggested a temperature of 108 for my problem which means this firstly heats to 118 degrees before dropping down to the correct temperature. I have found that by turning the heating pad on about five minutes before I’m going to lay down, I can have it heat up and reliably drop to the correct temperature before I need it.

If you’re in need of a longer or professional grade heating pad, you can not go wrong buying a Reliamed. My therapist liked it so well, she’s buying some number of for her clinic. Had I not found a Christmas special, I could have bought at as their price and buyer service are remaining.

TheraTherm was a cheapest but it was just low/medium temp heating pad that you may fall asleep on without fear of burning. It was just for home use only.

The second brand, Thermopore was better than TheraTherm. But I didn’t like the switch which one have to be hold down with my one hand. Once I release it, it stop heating.
Come on!!! we’re in year 2010. People watching LCD TVs at home. I do not find a super heavy thicky CRT TVs anymore. Why the THERMOPORE heating pad is still 100 on off manually by THUMB? Is THERMOPORE means THUMB MORE POOR? Someone suggested use a rubber band to hold the on off switch. But I think it wasn’t a safe idea. Also it does not maintain the same temp. After a year(Warranty just expired) two of six that I bought were stop working.

So I decided to look for a professional grade one now. And I found this one, ReliaMed heating pad at Amazon.Com. It solved all the problems I had with others on the day I received.

With LCD. 2010 LCD control not 20th centry ‘THUMB MORE POOOR’ switch, I was able to set the timer 160 minutes(Thank God, I didn’t have to hold anything). Also temp control with safe lock button was smart. LCD letted me know the current temp and target temp. The LCD control is so logical and easy. AND IT WORKS SO FAST AND REACHED 160 DEGREE. The pad itself has little dots all over so it made perfect contact with cover. How smart! The size was perfect for shoulder, thigh and legs.

No more bothering with other brands that never really get the job done. This is the only proffessional grade moist heating pad I have ever used.

I have had some number of heating pads, and this one is exceptional. Most heating pads either aren’t hot enough or too hot. This one lets the user to decide the exact temperature (in degrees). The cover is plush. I can not say enough about this product. The only thing I could change about this product: I could want the Velcro to be removable (it is attached to the cover on the width side) or add extra Velcro to let the heating pad to be attached on the long side of the heating pad. You won’t regret your buy.
