Platinum TENS Unit and specifications:

Platinum TENS Unit and Muscle Stimulator 4 Channel Combo Unit with AC Adapter Price and Description:
Why use medication when a drug free cost efficient solution exists? The “TwimStim Plus” eight Electrode TENS Muscle Stimulator Combo Unit has a Stronger 100mA then any other eight Electrode movable Unit on the market. It’s similiar to the TwimStim Plus Dual Combo Unit that we also carry. The major difference between the TwimStim PlusDual Combo and the TwimStim Plus Dual Combo is is that the TwimStim Plus is a four Channel, eight Electrode TENS / Muscle Stimulator Machine. It has eight Electrode Pads instead of four. The TwimStim Plus five Adjustable Modes of TENS, and three Modes of Muscle Stimulation. The TwimStim Plus eight Electrode Combo Unit also comes with a Power Supply. The TwimStim Plus eight Electrode TENS / Muscle Stimulator has a long battery life and uses four AA Batteries. The TwimStim Plus is movable also and comes with a tough metal belt clip. It also comes with a Timer and Compliance Meter. The TwimStim Plus weighs only 425 grams. The TwimStim Plus is for people who could like a mix TENS / Muscle Stimulator and could like to use eight electrode pads on different parts of the body. TENS Units were used to control degenerative and Acute ache as well as Rheumatoid and Osteo arthritis, Back ache, Menstrual ache, Labour ache, Peripheral Nerve Injuries, Shingles, Headache and Migraine, Cancer ache, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Phantom Limb ache, Sports Injuries, Sciatica, Aching Joints, Post Operative ache, Muscular ache, Whiplash and Neck Injury and many other painful conditions. Electronic Muscle Stimulators (EMS) were used for both medical treatment and cosmetic reasons (conditioning and toning). Medical conditions treated by Muscle Stimulation include: Muscle Spasms, Long term Disuse after Fracture or Prolonged Bed Rest, Strengthening for Joint or Muscle Injury, Immobilized Limbs, Atrophy Prevention, Bell’s Palsy, Stress Incontinence, Muscle Weakness, Improving Muscle Tone, Muscle Spasticity following a Stroke, and Personal strength Training.

4.0 out of five stars A great TENS unit UPDATE September 2011, July 31, 2011
By Jon Norris (Oregon, USA) See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) () This review is from: Platinum TENS Unit and Muscle Stimulator four Channel Combo Unit with AC Adapter (Health and Beauty) This looks just like best of LGMed’s line of regular TENS units, so I’ll copy my review of that item here. It became my favorite unit out of the six or so TENS units I tried.

It is powerful conflicting data as to if each channel can put out 100 or 105 ma, but it’s strong. As well, the assert that each channel is totally lonely from the others looks correct. There’s no power draw from one channel when you turn up a second or 3rd channel. This unit runs on either four AA batteries or the supplied AC wall adapter. The AC adapter is great for long sessions in one place, and saves many on batteries. I don’t notice any difference in power between the two energy resources. As well, AA batteries offer more flexibility and alternatives, and I’m happy they went that way instead of nine volt batteries. I typically use lithium or rechargeable batteries in AA powered devices, which save money over alkaline batteries, and put lots fewer into landfills.

The control system is pure digital no knobs which has its good points and bad points, based on how you intend to use it. All functions are accessed by push buttons and up and down arrows, and many functions are accessed by stepping through menus. There’s also a master power switch, which is nice to kill the system totally if you have a slipped electrode or develop a hot spot. Unfortunately, it also clears the power level settings back to “zero” so you must reset each channel manually back to where you had them set. A nuisance in many ways, but a needed safety measure for the most part. This is where a handle could be quicker in resetting levels, but, for me, the trade off in extra power and flexibility is worth it.

As with all of the units I tested, you may be able to change the power levels on each channel, but not the frequency. There can be a good reason for this, as it may be possible to set up unpleasant or unhealthy beat frequencies if each channel may be different. I tested this idea by adding a second unit at a different frequency, and did discover a pulsing beat which varied based on the settings on each unit, so this is a valid issue.

This unit is bigger than most TENS in this range, but not terribly so. The construction is good and hard, with the possible exemption of the control cover, which I find gets in th way many. But, for my uses, I need access to the controls many, if you tend to set and forget, that won’t be an issue. The battery compartment is one of the best I have seen in any small electronics, and the battery connectors are tough and hard.

If you need the best TENS unit you may be able to get in this range, look no more. This is a great unit. It’s a bit costly than many, but it’s certainly worth it. It’s nearly like to get four LG 7000s for the price of three, all in one unit. Greatly suggested.

UPDATE January 2011:

Had occasion to (unintentionally) test shorting the leads, and this unit handled it without burning out or shorting between channels. The situation proved to me just how well the channels are lonely from each other. I really like this unit, but do pay attention to how you use it, it has enough power to produce burns and damage if used improperly.

UPDATE: July 2011

They may make this a near perfect unit if they expanded the frequency range above 150hz, and included an input for Audiostrobe potential for syncing to meditation audio files. It may then become an adjunct for meditation and mind machines also, and one could experiment with Clark and Solfeggio frequencies.

UPDATE: August 2011

I could also like to be able to change the cycle timing of the “modulation” setting. The unit continues to function well with consistent and prolonged use. Hard, dependable.

UPDATE: September 2011

I just bought this exact unit as a backup and in early testing it’s almost same to the earlier one I got from LGMed. There are many differences in build, like dimmer LEDs, but so far my tests of its function directly parallel the other model. I have not tested it totally, but for the basic TENS/EMS setups, it works just like the other. I also see that the name of the vendor was changed since I ordered this a week or so ago.

I have not gotten a answer from LG Med to the email I sent newly, but I have had my most basic question answered, and I hope it settles things in the comments section also. The one annoyance for me is that the price dropped nearly $20 since I ordered this one. Oh, well, that happens with electronics, and does constantly change pricing (as do vendors themselves).

I am still happy with this unit, and think it’s a best purchase in TENS/EMS gear. When I find better, I will be happy to let everyone know.

4.0 out of five stars Good product, bad manual, August 14, 2011
By Kevin B. Andrews “Permanent tourist” (Sacramento, CA USA) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Platinum TENS Unit and Muscle Stimulator four Channel Combo Unit with AC Adapter (Health and Beauty) nice unit at a just price. Quite powerful as TENS unit. I usually like the higher settings, and this one gives lots of juice for that.

The muscle stimulator function is a nice bonus.

The big disadvantage is that the manual is awful. It uses many of “jargon” without explanation and , you just have to sort of figure out the functions and settings on your. With a correct manual, this could be a five star product.

4.0 out of five stars Better then projected for the cost, August 9, 2011
By J. Pickett (Wilmington NC) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: Platinum TENS Unit and Muscle Stimulator four Channel Combo Unit with AC Adapter (Health and Beauty) A good quality, good output, good user information.
The manual that came with this lil bugger is in depth and technical, but also takes the time to give the reader a good understanding of how it works. It took me forever to figure out how to use my 1st unit cuz the manual sucked. Only complain is they dont make it clear just how big this unit is. It is about the size of a classic ipod(that’s pretty big).
My other complaint is that when transferring from battery power to DC adapter, this thing bits you pretty good.. It could seem that when on battery only, the unit is running about 10 lower then when plugged into current.
It’s sucks to have to turn it off just to move from battery to DC adapter, when doing so you must reprogram everything, but it’s safer i recon.
